Why Does My Gmail Say No Connection

When you open your Gmail app, you suddenly see that there is a “no connection” error being displayed.

You will not be able to send or receive emails until this issue is fixed properly.

It is very frustrating to see this issue happen, especially if you want to send or receive an email in case of an emergency.

There are various reasons that can lead to this problem.

Fret not; we are here to solve this issue for you.

“No connection” is mostly caused by your phone not being connected to the internet. If your “mobile data” is switched off or if your mobile is in airplane mode, then you might have this error when you open Gmail. If you are having an unstable connection, it can also lead to this issue. If your Gmail is not updated and you are using an old version of the app, then that might be another reason for the problem.

Why Does My Gmail Say “No Connection” What is the cause of this issue ?

This problem might potentially arise if your browser or the Gmail app has a persistent bug.

This can also happen when Gmail’s server is having issues. Hence, there are multiple reasons as to why this might be happening.

What causes “No connection” in the Promotion section of Gmail?

Gmail, as we all know, has three sections:

1)Primary

2)Social

3)Promotions

If “no connection ” is only being shown in the Promotion section, then the problem is being caused by the bug in the app itself.

This issue is one that Google’s side is to be blamed for.

It is either a server problem or a bug.

How do I fix the “no connection” error?

You can use the following methods to fix this issue :

1) Internet Connection :-

The first way to solve this issue is by checking your phone’s internet connection.

As everyone is aware, gmail needs the Internet to function.

You should check your modem or router and conduct a speed test, and then try loading other webpages. If your internet is not working, you should contact your operator.

2) Clear Cache :-

As we know, all the apps store temporary data in the form of cache, and the more they are used, the more cache they accumulate. As more and more cache builds up, it can start taking up significant space. Clearing the cache for the Gmail app will help in resetting the app, which can potentially solve this issue.

How to clear the cache in Android:

Step 1) Long press the Gmail icon.

Step 2) Select “app info.”

Step 3) Tap “clear data.”

For iPhone :-

Step 1) Tap “Settings” and choose “user name.”

Step 2) Tap “Manage storage.”

Step 3) Choose “Gmail” and tap “delete documents and data.”

Doing this will reset the apps and fix any potential bugs.

Step 3) Remove your Gmail account.

Removing and re-adding your gmail account from your phone is another option to resolve this problem.

Steps to remove your Gmail account:

Step 1) Open the “Gmail” app.

Step 2) Simply tap your “profile image” at the top right.

Step 3) Tap “Manage account on this device.”

Step 4) Tap “Google” and choose your account.

Step 5)Tap “Remove account,” situated at the bottom.

To add a Gmail account:

Follow the first two steps mentioned above.

Step 1) Tap on “Add another account.”

Step 2) Choose “Google” from the list of options.

Step 3) Add your credentials in the following steps.

4) Remove data restrictions :-

Data restrictions are another reason that might lead to Gmail not connecting to its server. Once the quota for internet usage is reached, it will not allow the app to connect to the internet. You can go to settings and turn off data saving. Removing data restrictions on Gmail can help solve this issue.

Steps to remove data restrictions:

Step 1 : Long-press the “gmail” icon.

Step 2: Select “app info.”

Step 3: Tap “Restrict data usage.”

Toggle off the option, and this will remove data restrictions for Gmail.

5) Resetting APNs :-

The information required to establish internet connections on your phone is found in the APN (Access Point Name) settings.

Your phone’s APN settings are automatically configured. And, changing them affects the internet speed of all installed apps.

These modifications can be made manually or with the aid of outside apps. To ensure a steady internet flow in Gmail, reset the APN settings to their default values.

For Android :-

Step 1 : Tap “Settings.”

Step 2: Select “Cellular.”

Step 3: Choose “Cellular Data Network.”

Step 4: Tap “Reset settings.”

For iPhone :-

Step 1)Tap “Settings.”

Step 2)Select “SIM cards and mobile networks.”

Step 3)Choose a “SIM card.”

Step 4)Tap “APN” and select “Reset.”
